Previous studies of landslide occurrence at the base of the Bare Mountain in the Tully Valley area have suggested that many landslides have occurred at the Valley but are not documented in town histories or records that date back to the late 1700s.
Knowledge of when and how these older landslides occurred could indicate the potential for future landslides along the foot of the Bare Mountain*.
